LOL.

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/471097-Question-about-the-new-quot-Tre...

Redgob:
Quote:
Are they affecting only random loot? Or named loot rolls too? As I am pretty sure not all named loot rolls are on high numbers... Can't say I'd like to roll good on random stuff for hours while decreasing my chance for named items to 0%.

NoWorries:
Quote:
It only affects random loot chances.

Cordovan:
Quote:
These are not yet meant to be published in the DDO Store, and will be removed shortly. The general idea, though, is that they will give a boost to the roll made to determine whether you get the maximum effects on random gen loot within the parameters of the new random gen loot system.

So buy some now before removal or continue along with more money in your pocket? I'll choose the later.

Anyone with an inkling of programming skills would be able to take a copy of the character freezer and query for stacks.  Don't start that crap.

Absolutely true, anyone with programming skills could do that easily.  Fortunately for the filthy dupers nobody at Turbine has those.

And before anyone goes around saying this just makes loot gems worthless, no it doesn't.  Loot gems were worthless long before they made this.

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

People who don't know how to fix their own mistakes cleanly

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

Yeah, this. And the advantage of good content is, it *keeps* making money. And people don't mind, so they recruit their friends too, and it makes *more* money.

Yeah, Turdbin can make a little more short term if they squeeze, but they lose big in the long run.

I wonder how they will factor in, what kind of bonus they give, etc..  I'm willing to pay a few bucks for some cherry gear because I'm just that cynical. Funny to see the execution and reveal of the new pots was fucked up by Fat Jerry and Co. as per normal operating procedures.

I am going to speculate that the elixir will have spectacular results for the first 48 hours and then will be stealth nerfed to only give slightly better loot.

Be serious.  Otto's boxes, xp pots, stat tomes, and mana pots pay for more content than actual content.  If you think content is a top seller in the store then you haven't been paying attention.

If you are a fan of more content then you want Turbine making this stuff so that people will buy it.  I don't care if someone wants to spend their own money on some exilir that will give an undocumented (read: microscopic) boost to the possibility of getting better loot.

All fair points but I would point out that none of those things are mutually exclusive with also putting out good content. I was reflecting on how they manage to pull more and more silly pay-to-bypass items out of their arses but no decent, engaging content. Which, arguably, is likely to be better for player retention than new loot gems.

I agree with you.  Consumables/pay-to-progress features generate revenue but GOOD content generates loyalty and long term game play.

There needs to be a balance between the two.  It is unrealistic to think that the game can survive on just good content or revenue generation features alone.

Of the two, revenue generation features have not been lacking.  Good content, however, is in shorter supply.

Is anyone really actively exploiting enough for it to be a problem?  I'm not claiming it can or cannot be done, but rather does anyone give enough of a shit to actually be doing it?
