Devs shamed into posting Final strike numbers

There's been some folks recently who are interested in learning more about Final Strike, so we'd like to explain this effect a bit more.

Unfortunately, we have discovered a bug with Final Strike post-today's-hotfix in that the initial AOE damage is not accurate. That said, in addition to Vulnerable, the benefit should be:

On-Hit: 2d6+1d6 per Ranger level
Additionally, if the target is at 50% health: 5d20 damage
Additionally, if the target is at 25% health: 25d20 damage
Additionally, if the target is at 10% health: 100d20 damage

This damage does not scale with Ranged Power.

Again, the On-Hit initial damage is not correct in either the Ranger or Elven Final Strike currently.

DWS for the win in my book, Don't like AAs but I was glad to see that they finally coughed up some info. It was unbelievable the lengths posters had to go to get any info on it posted.

The main damage seems to be about the same as slaying arrow. The aoe seems to be about 10% of that. I did not do exhaustive testing, just a little quickie to have a look.

So stealth slay the main target, while aggroing anything that's otherwise just standing around? Perfect! We always need more abilities that allow us to grab aggro and make the melees play tag.

Ya ever since the fucked off manyshot and destroyed 10k stars i quit playing my AA. I dont see them making AA worth a shit again for at least another year or so. So i wasnt suprised to this shit come out already pre-nurfed... i guess ill tr into a mech or warlock like every other person had to. When they super nurfed half the builds people were playing before that..

Goes a long way to explaining why the Devs tried to avoid posting any hard info on how it worked no matter how loud those pallys whined for it.

The main damage as written by them is 22d6 if you're a pure 20 Ranger.

how does that equate to the damage of Slayer?

I do like AA, but that last tier is just not interesting enough.

The elemental arrows being affected by spell power has been fun and more than makes up for that missing Slaying Arrow.

Consider yourself lucky: the devs were yapping about removing the damage component from Slayer Arrow and making it a fort-save based instakill.  At least they left the best component of AA alone, though it's a moot point without manyshot.  I still don't get why balance=nerf.  Why not, instead of gimping shit, make the less uber stuff better to bring it up to par?  In a better run game, balance would = raising the bar across the board, skipping the stuff you consider OP.

The only cure is to stop playing.

Monkchers were never a "thing": it was something weak players were impressed by because, from what I gather, it was the first time most of them had ever seen real dps.  Pure ranger outperforms monkcher DPS wise, and pure ranger is gimp.

Well they have to be careful about how they roll out the new AA direction so it doesn't get stalled by whining too early on, in this case they are just starting to introduce Final strike and working the bugs out because it's going to be the replacement for the current slaying arrow/adrenaline paradigm. The changes coming down the pipe for Manyshot and AA Tier 5's will need a different mindset, and I don't think they are going to listen to anything we tell them about the new stuff being borked much less the wrong direction.  By the time it gets to us its already a done deal for the most part it seems, and Sev clearly has a goal in mind.

if they change slayer and adren no one will ever take aa t5 again.

What's he doing? Xbows are already so far ahead of any bow only combat it's just ridiculous. Adren/Slayer stopped being a problem a long time ago (when they redid mechs and nerfed manyshot).
