Please let me know when this beast is ready to go belly up.

Until then, keeping working on those exploits.  If I ever get back to the game, I'll need them to catch up.  Kiss

lol.

Since they have LotRO and own the rights, Turbine renamed the new data center "Lag End" when they moved in.

Laggines? What is Lagginses?... Precious.

To be honest, if DDO ever does go up for sale, not even McDonalds would touch it.

I'd buy it. I'm pretty sure I could make it profitable.

Granted, I'd be talking them down to like 5 bucks, but I'd buy it.

But then you'll be dealing with Hasbro - Turdbine might pay you take it off their hands...

Try offering subway bucks.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

They should sell it to a Bulgarian Indie developer, who could probably keep it running for a yearly fee of $10 or so. They would make profit by implementing a sophistcated and clever microtransaction-system. They'd have a team of less than 30 young and telented people, without the burden of hotlines and all that useless shit. They would make the game more polished and bug free in 1 year than Turdbin had in 10 years. In 2 years, the game would have a cult following and would be growing again.

Alas, I fear the DnD license will prevent this from happening. Plus, I think the leaders at Turdbin are genuinely malevolent narcissists who would rather sink the ship than selling it to someone potentially more competent than themselves.

Sadly, this seems true, and since that covers just about anyone legally allowed to enter a contract, DDO's outlook isn't rosy for the foreseeable future  Cry

I dunno, if the price were right, we could form a company, buy the game, and fix it up. Gonna need some venture capital and a better plan to monitize...

I think they should just leave it as it is for the time being, and if they are smart, which they are not, id start a new gaming company up to get started to ddo online 2. if warner say they are going to make several movies of D&D then its only logic to promote the game also, but you need a whole new game with up to date current technology code and grafix....

DDO 2 will be terrible.

And you don't need an up-to-date game. DDO looks fine on high graphics and if they fix the problems it has it plays great. It has a lot of deep and interesting levels. A little polish, a little shine, and it could make them money for a fraction of the cost of making a new game.

Plus, with the TR mechanic and an existing player-base that is constantly TRing, the barriers to entry are a ton lower for new players. So, yeah, stick with DDO as is.

DDO 2 is just going to be a micro-transaction-fueled, pay-2-win, PvP-centric lag-fest.

I haven't played in quite a while, but last time I checked there was no lag to speak of and you couldn't buy XP stones, stat tomes, spell point potions, etc. from their store like you can from the DDO store, have they added them recently?

I'm sure we can all agree that XP stones and stat tomes aren't the same as having the best sword in the game only be for sale in the store, and breaking after 100 uses with no repair ability.

Lol I remember a few years back when some kids conned me in to playing Maple Story with them. I figured "hey, I've got money, let's take a look at the in-game stor--HOLLY SHIT WHAT MORON SPENDS CASH ON THIS?!" Yeah, you basically "bought" limited use items like stacks of thrown weapons or some shit to keep you paying, and those were the best in the game. Like for a few bucks every time you sat down to play, you could be a god at the lower levels.

DDO is the only game I've seen yet that does micro transactions right.

You and I have very different opinions on what the "best sword in the game" means.

This. I buy bank space, cosmetics, whatever, just take my money because you are making a great game and I want you to stay in business.

If the PoE team made a D20 FRP I wouldn't even log into DDO long enough to cancel my auctions and pick up my mail.
