Extracting DDO.s .dat files?
Aug 21st, 2016 at 2:34pm
Print Post
Hey guys, anybody have any thoughts on extracting DDO's .dat files? In particular I am looking to open up client_sounds.dat, though in general I am looking for DDO's music.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

Use a program such as Convert2mp3.net http://convert2mp3.net/en/index.php?p=home
to easily convert those videos to mp3 form, (or whatever form of file you want, such as aac or flac.)

Um, no. He doesn't want youtube-links and he doesn't want to convert youtube videos.

We are looking for a way to open the .dat files.

Extracting the DAT files for the soundtrack is like reading Playboy for the articles.

My interpretation of the OP was that he wanted to open the .dat files to get the music. Under that interpretation, YouTube links are certainly a valid response.

I want the beholder growl for my text notification.  Sifting through the semi-random bits of files has kept me from even trying it.

Ok, as the sock of the vaultie that initiated these :
( those were posted animously at that time, since Inkblack and the Mr Brown sock are not there anymore it's been harder to share some informations, Strakeln does a great job for that but it sounds too much like work, so I tend to avoid asking him to post things.  )

http://www.ddovault.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1367966990/0

Any information is welcome.

I know there's lots of redundant and obsolete stuff in the files... why is Turbine not bothering to clean up those files ? ( it would solve the red/orange connection issue as well as the double loggin issue ( despite the gamelogic preloader included in the launcher ) )

note that I don't want to hack the game, I just want to make it better by unting down what's broken, what's redundant and what needs to be fixed.

Why bother digging into the files, when you know all you're going to find is this:

Ok so where's the portable hole song? This outdated yt-channel only has a small selection of music. But have fun while listening to it, it's just not what this topic is about.

+4 Tomes of Fate have been in the DAT files for a while. They were added at the same time as the +3's. Smiley

Yes.

Do not try the patience of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocation of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things.

Why should I bother with a fucking discord ?

That fucking thing is stupid... It's just a web overlay of a good old IRC.

Now IRC is a possibility...

Since Rodrak left us, lots of people are left to wonder what's in the files and what's not in the files...
For those amongs us that can read the file or at least have a clue of what to look for and where to look for it some things are obvious.
For those that do not know, they usually try to preach the false the get the truth.
