Uh.. Ash.. you realize, the difference between spending AP one way, as opposed to another way, is called.. a build.. right?

Honestly if you need help with building a viable pure 20 monk handwrap build and you have been playing for longer than 12 months, then I think you should give up, accept your ineptitude, and just play a warlock.  Handwrap monks are ridiculously easy to build.  Playing them properly is another matter entirely.   They are one of the most active, click intensive melee builds.   I think most people fail at monk by how they play it.  Not how they build it.

Well yeah... I can (And did) copy a build. I'm sure once I get to 30 and get it geared I will be at least as good as Arkat. The reasons I was serious about being willing to accept advice are as follows (keep in mind this is a shuri, not a wrap):

I see people talking about fast recall and have no idea how

The build I used has points spent in staff and I think that means I'm missing something

I don't know what the best stance to be in is (the game has changed so much since I was a builder that the math seems crazy stupid to do for me now)

I see people talking about monk macros and don't know why

I wasn't gaining ki with a shuriken equipped at level 20 and don't know why (admittedly I was still doing fine so I didn't spend much time looking at abilities to see if I was missing something)

I could probably find all of this information already posted places if I looked hard but I'm lazy, so...

Well yeah, I figured that much out. I was wondering if there was some enhancement that changed that, or if I need to meditate before every fight, or if I need to be meleeing before boss fights, or something else entirely. Since 10k stars requires quite a bit of ki there's obviously something that needs to happen but I never notice monks switching to melee and rarely see them meditate so it makes me think I'm missing some kind of combo.

To my knowledge, there are no enhancements or items to get around that requirement. You'll have to melee at least some of the time.
