realistically it needs a new engine written by new staff led by a new face. rewrite it, import the player database, and go from there. a lot of the issues that we hope the old staff would experience as gms, for revenge, wouldnt exist. they just need to be sent packing and have to compete with other game developers in the wild for their meals and rent instead of at the cost of whales bypassing the tedious gameplay of a community they refuse to abandon.

Just curious.  Where is this mythological game where whales don't drive profits?

Dungeon-only effects should no longer be lost when using intra-dungeon portals, and will now be properly removed when exiting the dungeon to a landscape.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

https://www.statista.com/statistics/273335/sales-of-the-worlds-most-popular-cons...

considering that games like GTA V didnt sell 17.08 million copies to a small group of whales, i think its safe to say there could be conditions in which a game makes money by being played by a lot of people, vs being played by 500 people who dump in thousands. im glad i had to explain this and it feels like a natural question and not the response of an apologist.

None.  He cherry picked console games.   However, take the top earner, GTA V:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/04/14/gta-onlines-500m-in-microtran...

Quote:
Because of new information from Rockstar North President Leslie Benzies’ $150M lawsuit against the company, new information is coming to light about just how successful GTA Online is. Namely, the mode has moved $500M in microtransactions, with a nearly 100% profit margin thanks to the minimal costs associated with them. Outside of mobile games, whose entire model is based on microtransactions, no other title even comes close to these kinds of numbers.

https://www.engadget.com/2017/08/03/gta-online-take-two-earnings/

Quote:
Almost four years down the line, GTA V is still drawing big crowds. And players are dropping a lot of dollar on the game's ballistic online mode. That cash is filling up the safes at Take-Two Interactive. The distributor announced on Wednesday that the latest instalment in the GTA franchise was key to it banking $418.2 million in net revenue over the past three months -- a 34 percent spike compared to last year.

It seems players are constantly swiping their Shark cash cards to buy pretty toys online, which amounts to more real money for Take-Two. Purchases made via the Xbox Game Store, PlayStation Store, and GTA Social Club helped deliver $268.2 million in digital net revenue for the quarter (up 56 percent over the previous year).

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

Still wrong, eighnuss.  Sure it made money on game sales, but over the long run, the whales are keeping it afloat.  One time sales are so 2005.  Seriously.   15 years ago called.  They want their business model back.

What's the biggest game that all the cool kids are playing?  Fortnite?  Business model?  Oh.  Right.   Microtransactions.   How many games advertised during the Super Bowl?  Clash Of Clans, Game of War?  Business model?   Oh.  Right.

Still waiting for that mythological game in 2018 that doesn't get supported by whales.   Or do you really think that people spending $70 or less per title really make the gaming world go round?
