Was a huge mob of guildless 1st lifers in Korthos last night (which I've decided makes me feel uncomfortable.  TRing at this point is a private thing.  It's kind of like masturbating; one person seeing you do it might be ok, but after a certain point - it starts to feel weird).

Easily over a dozen people that seemed to be mostly grouping together and probably twice that many between levels 1-3 in the harbor.

1st thought was there might be a new review of DDO someplace - but I can't imagine it would pull that many new people in at the same time.  Even when RL was getting press, we weren't seeing that volume (had to be about 7ish stateside, was around 2ish here in the European time zones).

2nd thought was a guild deciding to create toons to level together, but who the fuck does that?  Like, totally make new toons?  I'm in the largest guild and there's no way we could get 50 plus people to work together to create new toons at the same time, not to mention just TRing one of our many alts would be far easier.

3rd thought was maybe the devs decided to try and learn their own game, but in their free time on a Sunday night?

Didn't think to do it last night, but when I got up this morning (would make it about 2am stateside, depending on timezones) I counted slightly over 30 1st lifers without guilds on line.

Anyone have any insight?

I noticed that last night too.  About 7pm I looked on the list everyone page and there were easily two dozen new toons in Korthos and a bunch of 1-3 lvls in the harbor. 

No idea why unless there was some kind of sploit involved.

65 guildless newbs levels 1-5 on line right now.  We didn't see numbers like that when Cannith 1st became the default server or when RL was getting decent press.

At least 20 in Korthos again this morning.  A handful (a dozen or two) have been picked up by a few guilds: mostly Hand of Death, Tycoons of Tomorrow, and Greater Mysteries.

The new players don't seem to multiclass or reap - signs of actual new players.  I've had one join my reaper group but that's it. 

They don't chat or seem to ask questions.  I'm thinking maybe ferigners?  Maybe Asia is finally learning the joy of ddo? 

Also, Darcat is scripting something with level one alts near the auctioneer in the harbor, so be sure to PM him for details

I'm going to try and pay more attention, but after I thought about it - I'm not sure if they're actually questing or just parked in low level dungeons.  I'm going to pick a few names and kind of watch them.  Might be someone trying to make the server look more populated than it actually is.
