	AFAIK DDO uses GameSpy chat client protocol for ingame chat system. Evolved it's own way. Gamespy was using encrypted IRC protocol with just few additional login commands. Encryption was just "XOR gamespy" at the beginning of GameSpy, later evolved. IRC commands required at login attempt were to give Gamespy client ID and passwd, game ID (each gamespy chat implementation was for specific game) and CD-key, also later evolved. I've recently found that someone was already working on reverse engineering GameSpy client protocols, and produced many tools to help tampering with the connections. http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers.htm#gsmsalg There is one tool there, peerchat_irc which is man-in-the-middle proxy, that accepts plain IRC protocool and functions as a encryptor connecting to the GameSpy server. I've tried to play with it on Argo chat server 198.252.160.40:2900 and looks it communicates something! Jibberish, but still better than RAW connection that outputs no answers from chatserver. I'm not any good at networking or stuff, but if someone is experienced and interested to build eg. chat client for DDO that website will be a good way to start.

	What is possible? I mean end game shit here, are we talking about spoofing/injecting +GM chat or World Broadcasts? Spoofing other players' chats?� Flooding general chat to point of LOL? Or are we talking read-only?

	For sure you can do everything you can normally do in DDO - which involves chatting with everyone in game. Prolly you can escalate few things - like get list of all players/friends online despite their anonymous status. Talk to ppl despite they +ignored you maybe. Talk to many rooms at once like all trade channels. Listen to all rooms at once. Prolly not world broadcast or such, but who knows. I Imagine thing you could talk/chat to guildmates from your phone when not in-game

	I could be wrong but I think "chat" commands are separate from "client" commands. For example "/loc" or "/sleep" are separate from "/joinchannel XXX."

	You know, you should check the LOTRO stuff, there's lots of channel tools and most of them are probably adaptable to DDO. I'm sure the combat logger from old can also decode the chat channels. Google is your Friend. Just remember : it breaks the ToS, so assume the cons�quences of using those tools.
