honestly, from a VIP standpoint, it's not worth it... the only real gain is the Gold Roll everyday compared to every week.


All the rest, any VIP worth his account will have earned... the Otto Box, if youre a vip and you didn't manage to get enough TP for one you'redoing it wrong.
And you have to cought up money for the expansions anyway...

it might attract a fringe group of F2P/Premium/Freemium people that don't have everything on their account and hope to manage to grab enough TP to get everything in two years ( it's not that hard if you don't spend it on XP Pot and Otto Boxes ) but it's not really gamebreaking or whatever.

I'm tempted to get it. Wish they had used a better one of the dragon armors such as the medium dragon style but meh.

At this point I'm only buying in because I canceled my sub and why not, even as jaded and annoyed at SSG as I am I don't honestly want to see the game fail. And if my 300 bucks help keep the lights on, I suppose it's worth it. Though I was waiting to see what Sharn was going to look like before I put more cash into DDO.

I think I've got a good +6 months of sub still leftover plus the 2 month ravenloft code.

I was running the yearly sub until my forum ban, at which point I had a momentary "Well fuck you" kind of reaction and canceled it. It's not like I'm scrapped for cash, really DDO is one of those games I just sort of stay subbed too even if I'm not playing as I enjoy the game and want to see it around when I've got the itch.

But I don't disagree that one never knows if/when SSG will go tits up.

The fact that RL went on sale in the DDO store for points with EVERYTHING in the Ultimate Fan bundle still intact was a real kick in the hairpurse for some people. I don't mind all that much, because I view the expense as entertainment and I had access to that content for almost 6 months before the frugal/patient people.

This package doesn't really offer much, but then again, that's good salesmanship. Slap "SALE!" on something and people usually come running whether or not the math adds up.

The whole "Beef: Everyday- $0.25/lb." vs "SALE! BEEF!!! 3 lbs for $1!!! SUPPLIES LIMITED! 9lbs/CUSTOMER MAX!!!" scam.

It also occurred to me that there's both some market feelers here, both for ongoing sales and also for hedging. It's unlikely even SSG knows their long term viability, but if enough people buy 2 year plans (non-refundable) and then SSG goes tits-up the next month/quarter/year... Then that's 1 whole year (or more) of cash that's in their pocket for disbursement when all the assests are liquidated.

Plain old VIP is still a better deal overall. Like Flav said, if you can't grind shit free on a standard VIP account, you're doing it wrong. Hell, in the 2 month VIP I got with the fan bundle I piled up so many TP I didn't know what to do with it all... And I haven't paid for anything with real world money since.

Also... That cosmetic armour looks like ass. And this is coming from a painted-cosmetics-whore. It probably can't be crunched at the vendor either, just like the 12 copies of Cerulean Waves or the Gold Party hats I have jamming up my cache.

If I was still able to post on the mobo I'd bring up the fact it's odd you only get a "12" month sub notice.

This as another dick punch to VIPs, just like the RL bundles and the sort of schizophrenic nature of SSG at the reigns..  An amazing expansion and pretty good development so far, but absolutely terrible marketing.  I can hardly wait for another shit cosmetic for the anniversary gift to clog my inventories.  But if you aren't currently VIP it's not bad, except getting locked into a 2 year commitment. The game doesn't have to shut down for things to go down the toilet in less than a year...  What does it mean if this offer doesn't sell out by the end of the weekend?  Something.. nothing.. who knows.

I was thinking about going VIP anyway...
