Guilds and the current state of the game (Read 3713 times)

	I am currently in a guild that I really like but it is stagnating and a bit on the harsh side if you don't know the members. I have some ideas on how to expand the guild and attract new members but most of the ideas are beaten down due to "the game is dead so why try" type statements I would really hate to leave the guild as I have been in it for over 6 years and truly like the remaining players but we seem to shrink every month, and the few remaining people all seem to want to kick each other out for various reasons. Is it worth trying to create a new guild in the current state of the game? I would hate to not at least try. I think a friendly guild with a bent for power gaming is possible (there are a couple of good guilds on the server but I don't think I would be a good fit for them) Opinions? Help? Advice?

	Probably depends on channel health on your server, your activity level and your relationships with the key members of the other power gaming guilds. Strong channels can replace guilds as the primary way to form raids and reaper groups.

	What are your guild's goals? I think that's a big part of staying healthy. Even if the goal is unrealistic and waaaay on the horizon---giving something for people to work towards is important. As far as "finding resistance to change" within the guild... ...just start doing shit you want. Start telling people what to do. Start setting up events for people to participate in. If people are unmotivated then tell them to "get fucked" and just do what you want. The most motivated person in a guild usually drives a lot of its direction. GL dude. Stay in your guild IMO.

	Sounds like my old guild. We were down to 7 active accounts and two of them were mine. I was in the guild for 8 years, only the guild leader had more time than me. When I went to him to start recruiting new people he refused. So as an officer I started recruiting myself. Got a few people in, he would boot them on flimsy excuses. I eventually pulled my main out of the guild and joined one that actually tries to bring in new people. Don't obsess over your old guild. The new guild you join will have a ship and buffs, thats all a guild really is these days anyway.

	If you've played for 6 years, you might play for 6 more. and if you find the guild getting to slow to level I would agree to just join a guild with people you play with. with mine guild, the ship is basically a soup kitchen, where anyone can join and get free buffs. they can ignore guild chat, or spam it. nothing organized, and no pressure for neck tattoos
