Any recommendations for a decent f2p MMO on the lower end of the graphics card spectrum?
On a guild mate's suggestion, we're giving Guild Wars 2 a try this weekend, it's F2P for the core game now, and has some great reviews. I hear it's a bit hard on graphics cards, though, so definitely check out minimum system requirements before you download it.
We settled on that because it's family friendly (supposedly mostly), has great story and visuals, active combat, scales levels so you can party with lower level friends, auto-grants/completes quests so you don't have to run back and forth to Baudry Cartmon, has an auction house that spans servers, has inventory control that provides unlimited storage for ingredients, collectibles, and currency without having to travel to a bank, and no stat items in the microtransaction store.
I'm not sure if my sources are 100% right on all of that, but even if they're only mostly right is sounds worth it. We're going to give it a shot this weekend. Supposedly you can play a couple hundred hours before running out of the free content.
I also love Path of Exile, totally free and a fantastic game, but it's dark and gory, a Diablo clone not Baldurs Gate. It's not too bad on resources, but a bit more than DDO. I can run 5 instances of DDO before I notice any performance degradation, but only 2 PoE (and I haven't done that in quite a while, it may be worse now).
