I've done some of these major DC maintenance projects before, and had they planned this out there was a scheduled break from say 2am to 9am.  At the point they decided they weren't going to finish Wed, the infra supervisor should have sent most of the team home for rest.  You queue up a long job (disk array rebuild, backup restore) and crash hard.

Lack of sleep is the enemy here. Starting fresh in the morning is the better bet.

However, given the times and now extending this to Thurs night is probably indicating a hardware problem - they lost a MoBo or backplane or something didn't reboot well and had to FedEx a new one from the hardware vendor.

Nothing to worry about.

Given their stellar track record with bugs, update testing, and code maintenance, I have no doubts at all that their infrastructure and hardware are top-notch with an emphasis on best practices, including redundant backups that are regularly tested as part of their thoroughly documented business continuity and DR plan.

Has this been common lately? Been back for less than a week.

Maybe I should always plan something else on maintenance days.

Always good to see you back mate, hope you stay for a long while.

Based on the last twitter post, they are still on the 5pm time track, they haven't indicated an extension thus far...

More likely https://www.walmart.com/ip/621888364
which is out of stock.

Only chumps source their gear from HP or Dell.

Their data shows that people will continue to give DDO money regardless of where they get their equipment, so spending top dollar for reliability and support is wasting money that could be allocated to Pac-Man LARP supplies.

Why leave the production equipment alone and assemble the new equipment & validate the migration procedure off line using backups when you can be a baller with live data and use the same "hope method" protocol that high school kids use for birth control?

HP servers are some of the best. Dell servers are very close behind.

So many people hate you right now that I'd be surprised if your family 4 generations down the line don't suffer life long diarrhea problems.

Haha. If the game was down for an extended period, the game would probably just disappear.

Even if it's back by 2am (and my SSG sponsored Magic Eight Ball is saying outlook
not so good) - isn't that a 24 hour extension on a 22 hour planned downtime?

I think whoever said three days, like the last time, is probably on the money.

They better not reopen the servers on peak hours.  Or the new boxes might bust a nut with the onslaught of gamers just wacking at the chance to log in.
