Yup.   But the options would be:

Grinding a few high yield quests to get to cap fast (which wouldn’t produce much favor or reaper xp)
Dice rolling to 20
Exploit (probably around dice or sagas)

There is a reward for reaching 20.  But only one.   With the other goals being reaper xp and favor, speeding to cap gets you very little, besides a pl.   what are you going to do at 20 when the next highest is at 13 with no gear and no ed’s On a first lifer?  Solo epic reapers?   Good luck with that. So tr is about your only viable option.  but how much stronger is a 34 point build with 1 sorc pl than a 32 point build?   Not much when lag and incompetent party members are your biggest risk factors.

Saw a lvl 12 die this morning on the global announcements.  Thats rough.

The first to 20 paid over a grand to gold roll his way there. We were in party with his guild while he went 1 to 20. Apparently the character later died after he TR'd it. Second hand information.

As I thought at first try and the beginning its super fun: no ships, no gear, a lot of people, a live ah. Even platinum is limited lol. Permadeath on top of it definetly makes game spicy, plus all the death announcements are fun. Still, as I was intended to, gonna give it a shot until first lag death. Dont really know which way is the best to play it. Probably need to tr couple of times before making all reaper life. Gearless toon cant make all solo reaper for sure, and yet partying is very limited, way too much folks playing it wrong and dies at lvl 3-7

Could they have spent less money and made a shittier splash screen for this?

Question: What happens if a character in the death zone tries using a bracelet of friendship? instant death? Can you be pulled out of death this way (I doubt it)?

I have confirmed you can't /stuck out of the death zone...

pretty sure the pvp zones are still active... anyone want to friendship bracelet someone to the pvp zone and kill em?

Didn't want to spend the points to find out but similarly I wondered if you can use one when you have Grotto anti-death buff and whether it would persist if you exited with a bracelet.

I find it funny that the lack of decent gear, PL, etc. due to the long break I had has put me in a position now where Hardcore isn't that different from my regular play but most others are having an interesting bump back to earth.

I've capped someone playing PD before but it was before Reaper and many other changes. Didn't go above 20 though, that'll be interesting to watch as the server ages.
