Anyone running the 64bit Client?

I've been using it since it was first offered, and while there appears to be less 'lag' for the most part.... ALL combat is fraught with momentary hangs and animation skipping.

Most of the time I can't tell if an attack was completed or an effect went off until WELL after the fact, and it's frustrating as hell. I'm also noticing lots of wasted attacks where the attacks go off, the animations complete, but it doesn't actually effect or influence the target in any way. There's no miss, deflect, evasion, it just 'wiffs'

Been having that with 32 bit as well...

If you can roll it you can smoke it.  If you can carve it you can smoke with it.

You're still playing DDO, 64bit or not.

I forget... do the KEWL Kids still play... or are the KEWL Kids the ones that stopped playing and just can't let it go?  Asking for a friend....

Yeah I'm using the 64 bit client. Not noticed anything worse than the 32 bit client.

I'd say we found Steelstar, but 5Foot knows more about the game than  him.   Roll Eyes

Erm a 64 bit client cant possibly help with lag. It could help with FPS but blaming SSG for your shitty computer when there is plenty of valid things to complain about is retarded

It can't help with lag, but it could potentially help with performance that looks like lag.

I rarely lag when I solo. There are some people who cause my DDO's performance to drop off a cliff when they join my party and step into the instance. Including rubberbanding, freezing, etc.

If that isn't lag, it's something that's mimicking lag really well. And if it's local to the end user, then SSG needs to figure out how it's infecting the other people in the party with shitty performance and make it stop.

I'm pretty sure that DDO sends messages in the group for events that happen and expects responses from the other clients in that group saying that the message is received. When that response doesn't happen then we get lag.
Someone logging out then back in causes the message queue to get flushed so there is no more waiting which clears up the lag.  You see this a lot more in raids - where there are many more messages flying back and forth.

Very reproducible behaviour

This rings true to me. I often see improvements in lag in groups when one particular person DCs.

That particular player could have a build specific ability that bugs out and overstacks infinitely a.k.a "tree builds destroying public instances" and not just a client/connection problem.

Seems to me that if I knew who that person was I would never group with them.

You misunderstand me. It's usually one person in the group who causes all the lag trouble it seems. That person can be different in every group, though.

I forgot to add... sound chains & events constantly drop out and get interrupted, especially in DM narration moments
