Ran this ridiculous slog of quest for the 2nd time today with several weeks between.

Now I remember why I havn't ran more of this chain.

Fucking slow-head idiot design of a quest.

Shit, I even <3 the Pit and Coal Chamber but this finding Dorris BS is just effing rubbish.

Maybe you should run with someone who actually knows the quest to show you how to run efficiently.

Lots of shortcuts and tricks to run it in less than 20 minutes.

It can be run efficiently if you memorize it. That doesn't mean that it isn't shittily designed.

Anyone who goes in there blind is going to wander around wondering wtf they're even supposed to do. Easily missable stuff should be optional. If objectives are going to be mandatory and need to be completed in a certain order, that requirement should make sense instead of being arbitrary. If people get to the endboss without finding the mcguffin or talking to the random NPC, let them fight the boss and then go back and search FFS.

If Finding Dorris were a D&D session, the DM would get punched in the face.

That's saying something, because that's the best quest in that chain

all of sharn is hot trash. the devs should just stop anytime they consider making their own expansion again.

I hope it is a setting that has already been fleshed out by creative writers. Maybe less copy pasting so that Sharn doesn't feel like the market swallowed the harbor, but got shrunk by 85% after.

At least the music is good in sharn.

Maybe their new expansion has teleports to the quest instead of forcing you to run through their shitty little wildernesses, which they spent far too much time on, and decided that running through the cogs would be mandatory, if only so they felt like they didn't waste their time. This way they can waste yours instead.

Maybe they allow for the quests to be red doored so I can run the few decent ones in the pack without being forced to do all of them. Or maybe join in a group in the middle of the chain? Those fucking idiots didn't even make the fucking thing group friendly, for fucks sake....

It is Feywild. The least fleshed out thing they have done to date. Stormreach, Eveningstar, Underdark, Ravenloft, and Sharn were all well established. Feywild is a completely blank slate.

Neverwinter did a Feywild expansion and there's various materials for the Feywild.

But as far as DDO is concerned I could totally see it being 100% homebrew.

Ravenloft is a direct copy, room to room, encounter to encounter, of the 5th Ed Ravenloft book. You can actually use the book to zerg the quests if you don't know them.
( except Amber, they tinkered with that one )

Oh and the Ravenloft book maps are really really much easier to understand, especially when you're dealing with the Castle.

They suck at multi level maps. It's quite embarrassing.

I did not know that. They did an even more incredible job on it then. I feel like I got baited with sharn after ravenloft. And feywild is going to be even more of ssg original content... Hope corona cancels it all!

A sane person would think that if copy-paste legacy modules are so successful it would be a good idea to stick to it and keep up in order to get both profits and happy customers but superstars at SSG know better Roll Eyes

Fixed.

Do not try the patience of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocation of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things.

The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Ravenloft Castle : ( first two floors )

There's some cosmetic changes to fint them in the DDO engine ( thick walls and such ), but otherwise if you look up one of the room you get the same encounter as in the book.
