Quote: Wayfinder experienced a significant issue during our data center work today that caused character data to be corrupted going back to the morning hours Eastern of July 15th. In order to correct this issue, we have had to roll Wayfinder back to about 7:30 AM Eastern on July 15th. This means that all character progress made since July 15th has been lost, and is not able to be restored. We are currently working to capture and refund any points spent on character-based purchases made on Wayfinder during that time, and we will provide further information when it becomes available. That work is not expected to be completed this evening. All Account-based purchases remain intact. We will be providing more information in the coming days. We deeply apologize to players on Wayfinder for this issue. We will be announcing make good gifts for affected players in the coming days. This is the first time in the game's history we have had to do this kind of rollback, and we intend to make sure we take steps to prevent a similar situation from happening in the future. - Severlin

If I understand the wiki correctly(which, lets face it, is 50/50 at best), then: https://ddowiki.com/page/Wayfinder_(server) Wayfinder should be physically somewhere in Europe. That would explain a lot of its just at a colocation somewhere and SSG has little to know concept how to operate the equipment remotely. If its NOT over in Europe, then that also answers the question.

	reading through the thread provides a great cross-section of the core problem with the DDO community. You have a lot of people popping up and saying "Hey, I lost $500 worth of shit" and then other people replying they "shouldn't be greedy". Its nuts.

	Ok so i can pass the facythat they don't get backup every day but really now,no backup before maintenance?????? They start maintenance without a backup??? What the fuck? Better close your fucking shop , want them to tell me why not to ask money back even if i didn't spend a penny? I mean they don't have backup they don't have proves that i didn't spend 20.000$ in that period i need to talk with a good lawyer we can keep them 50-50

	what bother me most in that fucking mess is that they do not have a backup taken just before doing any work of all the server ( even the ones they are not working on since it's all interconnected in the backend ) so that they can recover this kind of fail. Ok, I've seen worse from a $TELCO... I have a hardcopy of the Ticket ( along with the escalation, the chats and stuff )... some day I'll frame it and put it nice visible location in the office so that people can see the level of fail that can happen.

I'm jumping to a few conclusions, BUT... if the problem was DB corruption, then the backups would also be corrupted, and they have to roll all the way back to before the corruption started, or manually edit the DB to fix all the problems. Know what a massive pile of butt cracks DDO's DB is, its not tough to imagine.

So it's probably more due to general Turbine incompetence because we all know they have no balls and can't calculate or plan.
