It is getting out of hand the amount of duped boxes out there. I was offered a heroic otto's box for a piece of raid loot today. As tempting as it was, i decided not to do the trade and placed the item up for roll due to the fear of being banned. The reasoning is, how am I to know if the Otto's box was legitimately bought in the DDO Store or duped. In fears of being banned I did not make the trade. So, you have some players out there that are unawares of the duped boxes, so if and when the ban hammer drops and they made a trade for a duped box and get banned. Is that really fare because Standing Stone has not made a stand or announcement of the ramifications of making such a trade. The simple fix is to make all current and future boxes bound to account. Then you can easily find out who is duping and drop the hammer on them. As a player that has been playing on and off from launch of the game. I have never seen it this bad for duping. 	Actually a very interesting legal discussion going on: since the boxes were originally bought with points(not directly with cash) they don't technically have a cash value. DDO Points are like arcade tokens, you buy them for money and sue them to play the game, but they aren't worth anything and the arcade owner is therefore not obligated to buy any leftovers back from you when you leave the arcade. This is a really important legal precedent for online gaming, as it means when a player "quits" the game, the company is under no obligation to refund them for unused points they may have left over. What that all means is that, while we keep insisting "A box is $50" thats not true, a box is 4,995 DDO Points, and DDO points explicitly have no cash value. Ergo, dupers cannot be sued based on the number of boxes they duped. The boxes aren't worth anything.

I will say from my understanding, the counter-argument is that SSG can sue based on damages caused by people NOT buying ottos boxes from them. However to do that they would need to demonstrate a drop-off in sales(difficult) and its questionable whether that will happen. I would hazard a guess that the people who buy most of the legitimate ottos boxes are not the same people buying duped ones.
