Buying character inventory tabs

While I wasn’t really paying attention as I was buying character bank tabs for a locker toon, I managed to buy not only the 3 that are purchasable, I somehow also bought the extra two that I thought were only available thru Coin Lord favor, for 8 total tabs. 

Has being able to buy those last two tabs always been a thing, or has SSG managed to unravel their spaghetto code in unforeseen ways again?

I decided this was worth a couple points to try out and signs on to my main, sadly it shows "nothing available" in the inventory section. Was there something else you did?

Also, i know in the past I've been able to buy space and ended up with a physical item I could move through shared bank and redeem on another char - is this what you did?

I'm recreating the steps I took on another locker toon with only the 3 starter tabs and zero favor whatsoever...

1. Open inventory window and click on the "Get Now" icon.

2. Click on the very top "Inventory Space Upgrade, +20 Slots" for 595 DDO points 5 times.

3. Wind up with 8 total inventory tabs.


Seriously, I just did it again, so it wasn't some kind of fluke.

Hell, even the General Tab acknowledges that I have 5 additional tabs now.

"(Standard): You now have an additional backpack tab in your character's inventory (20 more item slots of storage)." x5.

5 individual times or did you just click the dealie up to 5 and hit buy?

I think this is worth investigating... must decide which char to try it on, though.

Fuck a duck.

So it worked, I was able to max out inventory tabs on a char. pound-sign confirmed.

I was also able to do it an extra time and get a BtA "item" worth 1 inventory tab. I transferred this to another character who had already bought max tabs but not favor-unlocked any... tried to use it, got an error, and item went away. So thats 600 DDO points down to the drain.

Ah well, this is handy at least. My barb now has way more inventory than he needs Tongue

Can you confirm it persists through logging?

I've completely sworn off TRing the old-fashioned way so just running 18-20 these days. Doesn't really matter since the only character I TR cant make use of this(already has max bags).

I suspect that at some point in the past this is how it was some supposed to work: you bought it in the store, got an item in your inventory, then redeemed it that way. If you recall, astral shards used to work this way as well. Then, I speculate that due either to shenanigans or simply to simplify the process, they changed it to just automagically redeem. The item exists in your inventory for a fraction of a second, then gets redeemed. If you already have max bags when you buy it, you get it.
