Henshin core notes and remarks I only give A fuck about Henshin Someone else can do ninja
Core 1: Riddle of Flame: Each Core ability you take in this tree, including this one, grants you +3 Physical Resistance Rating, +3 Fire Resistance, and +3 Spell Resistance. Core1 Riddle of the Void +3 prr, +3 mp, +10 force spellpower Or 3mrr, 3 spell resist, 10 force. That would push the build towards slotting for spell resist. Again, with high saves on monk not useful, as this doesn’t prevent aoe damage. Though it could be thematic with “mystic”, and that would be mrr, not prr.
Core 3: Cauldron of Flame: TOGGLE: Activate this toggle to conjure a large Cauldron of Flame at your feet, following your location. This costs a small amount of Ki to activate, but over time will cost an increasingly high amount of Ki to maintain. If your Ki drops below your Passive Ki Threshold, it will be automatically dismissed a few seconds later. Enemies within the Cauldron take Fire and Force damage periodically, scaling from your Fire and Force spell power. Also, passively, Quarterstaves you wield are considered Spellcasting Implements.
Core3 Void Circle: toggle. Just force damage Have it be like a dark circle like the cauldron had. Or Calm Abiding Circle. You’re friends don’t take damage QS as spellcasting implements? This leans from Melee to Magery. Is there a force staff? Ok universal sp, that’s an add. I assume this is some aura attempt for monk. Should be op, scalable. Really it should be more marquee. Move to 12. Because otherwise you’re giving shin and ninja cauldron. How stupid
What goes at 3? Maybe double QS. SPellcasting instruments, and shields. Since they both scale. Ahh, the fix Void strike at 3. Same time path is chosen. Costs 6ap to buy in for shin or ninja.
Core 6: Ki Burst: Trip, Improved Trip, Whirlwind Attack, and Greater Whirlwind Attack now cause a burst of Ki to explode outwards from you, dealing Fire and Force damage that scales with Fire and Force Spellpower. If either of the Trips succeed, this restores 10 Ki.
Please don’t make Henshin a trip build. The original Henshin was a str build, but now should go wisdom. Trip is not in the sequence. But Henshin has more feats to give. And Henshin before wisdom was dex. But the only reason for wisdom was to consolidate to hit dam with DCs. Shin Tao mostly with QP SF jades kukan. Henshin just has Qp.but it’s worth building for. They will nerf it. And slas so it should still remain a wisdom build. Otherwise it would open to str. However the inherent symmetry in monk corresponds to saves of dex con wis. Not str. Could allow for multi at 12 or 12 ftr monk splash. Monk and fighter have historically been intertwined in ddo, tho in dnd that’s not the case. Also, aasimar makes best wis monk. So wise. Plus all finishers are wisdom. Some kind of exploding Henshin. Please that is so fucking Diablo. You could keep this at 6 as precursor of void circle at 12. It’s like the monk is learning his limits, ie the circle animation. Remove the fire element, just use force damage. At least 2 regular attacks with WW AND GWW. One thing I’m again upset by is the lean towards spellpower. Splitting a melee to use spellpower means slotting items that aren’t best. This diminishes the build. Likewise not inherently building for a more focused archetype. Drop the fire, go void, consolidate to force. Then build new items in the expansion when you drop it. Always fixed by new items. Thank you. Ya, trip build and staff. Gotta take CE for IT. maybe for the twist too. Maybe not such a bad idea, very iconic tripping with staff. Maybe trip mods in tree. Keep this at 6, ki burst, only force damage. Then shin and ninja can get it too when WWA.
Core 12: Flame Eater: Active: Explode your Cauldron for a huge amount of Fire and Force damage that applies a stacking PRR and AC buff and restores Ki for each enemy it strikes. Passively, you treat Quarterstaves as if they were Large Shields, gaining a shield bonus to AC and prr/mrr as if they were a Large Shield of the same level. Unlike an actual large shield, this does not prevent evading or decenter you, and does not carry the normal large shield ASF and skill check penalty. This will allow you to benefit from Stances that require you to be wielding a Shield, such as Stalwart and Sacred Defender.
Move this to 18. Call it Embrace the Void And more of the exploding Henshin. I do like the staves ads shields. Flame eater is a stupid name...
Core 18: Staff Specialization: +1 Competence bonus to Critical Threat Range and Critical Multiplier with Quarterstaves. +15% Attack Speed with Quarterstaves.
Move this to tier5. Op staff at 12.
Core 20: Serenity: +2 Wisdom, +2 Constitution. +10 Concentration and +1 Passive Ki generation. While standing in your Cauldron of Flame, the passive portions of the first core ability of this tree are doubled (so the totals would go to +18 PRR, Fire Resist, Spell Resist outside of your cauldron, and +36 PRR, Fire Resist, Spell Resist within your Cauldron).
While standing inside your Void Circle, +36 mrr, force resist, spell resist. And +4 wisdom. The mystic would be more wisdom than shin or ninja, for other 2 shin wis con and ninja wis dex
So a exploding force staff user. Leans towards spell resist and higher mrr.
