I would love to hop this would mean scaling UI, better inventory systems, updated UI all over the game, ray tracing support, etc

They already said an inventory overhaul was on the agenda for 2021, so here's hoping.

Bitch ass nigga Severlin told that there will be no impact on development on LOTRO/DDO, but there's an upgrade planned for LOTRO in 2022.

While slightly off topic, Amazon is working on a new lotr mmo. If it happens to release and not be a epic failure like their recent game was. Im sure this will impact lotro, upgrade or not. Which in turn could impact ddo. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'm not sure I'm seeing the connection.  What kind of impact are you envisioning?  Positive?  Negative?   What's the rationale behind the impact?

My rationale, which could be very flawed, was the following:

Since lotro is seemingly the golden goose of ssg. Amazons new lotr mmo, if successful, could take players away from lotro. Reducing profits.

I'm not sure what the profit margins are at ssg but it could be possible that lotro is picking up the slack so to speak in terms of keeping ssg going. This could potentially impact ddo in getting reduced budgets or simply ssg shutting down sooner than expected.

Unfortunately no, It was in a dev post like 9-10 months back. There were no details, just that a storage/inventory overhaul was in the works.

OK.  I'm not sure that the data shows that Lotro is the "golden goose".   It certainly has more subscribers, but as far as revenue goes, they are much closer.   13 million annualized vs. 10 million annualized.   Given that DDO has a much higher per player revenue generation, the argument could be made that DDO is more of a cash cow than LotRO.

Regardless, at 10 million in annualized revenue, I'm not convinced that DDO needs propping up by LOTRO.  Maybe the collective inferiority complex people have had about DDO doesn't match the data.

Daybreak was the company that put games to greener pastures in their late game life days while trying to squeze as much revenue as possible.
Now the new one looks interesting, even if I'm a bit biased by working for a Swedish company in another, but related domain.
While, I didn't know there was a Swedish game company playing in the big league, I knew about the Finnish and the Icelandic one ( respectively Supercell and CCP Games ) so it's not a big surprise. ( now I need to find a Norwegian one... and I'll consider Lego as the big Danish game company to complete Scandinavia )

I googled it for you. Some really big fish in the Baltic Sea (minecraft, battlefront, HOI, candy crush):
    Mojang.
    Embracer Group.
    King (Midasplayer)
    Stillfront Group.
    EA Digital Illusions CE.(DICE)
    Paradox Interactive.
    G5 Entertainment.
    Ubisoft Entertainment Sweden (Massive)

Funcom is norwegian I think.

I'm looking for companies that have the head located there.
( the company HQ, the share trading, where the company started... all the little things that denotes the nationality of a company  )

Mojang is a subsidiary of Microsoft... so despite the fact that it was independantly created and swSwedish it doesn't counte anymore.

I'm dubious for Embracer group, they appear to have been a subsidiary at some point

King is woned by Activision Blizzard... so it's like Mojang. doesn't count, especially with an HQ in Malta.

Stillfront is OK. But that's just another Swedish one.

EA is well, an EA subsidiary, Don't count.

Paradox Interractive is OK, but that's yet another Swedish one.

G5 seems ok also, and again Swedish.

Ubisoft is French... the fact tha tthey have a Swedish subsidiary doesn't make it a Swedish company.

None are Norwegian...

Let's not forget the minecraft was created by picking up the abandoned sourcecode from another game that was never finished and released publicly. That's always fun.

Did they end up showing the numbers for 2019 in that presentation? It would be interesting to see how Covid played a role. Certainly with most people sitting at home all day from the lockdowns revenue went way up. The gap between ddo and lotro could get bigger. Still, ddo seems to be doing great.

Just the statement of a fact. That's why you can't determine if it's good or bad... it's a plain, bland factual statement.  Roll Eyes

Plain, bland factual statements are bad, ergo you think its bad, ergo you are a self-hating frog.

Kingmaker is a lot of fun.  The new Path of the Righteous that is about to enter beta looks even better.

Some folks didn't like the kingdom management aspects of Kingmaker.  I found it unique and fun.  But it did become a bit less enjoyable on replays.

I agree, but that first run-through was magic.
