A Look Ahead  -  Producer's Letter January [b]2021[/b]

Greetings!  I am pleased today to share a glimpse of the wondrous direction we are taking Dungeon & Dragons Online for this year and beyond.  DDO has become the life-blood of many of us, and we are incredibly excited at where we be going. Its been a long journey (with some shouldering more of the burden than others!) but in the spirit of inclusiveness, we welcome all.

As the hugely popular new winter event Snow Peaks continues, we are pleased to announce its continuation in the years to come.  For next year, we are adding an alternate path called The Icy Depths – the same exact coin-laden pathway, except now its underwater (ice water!) and players must swim to the end.  We have been listening to all of you clamoring for additional underwater adventures, and are responding to your overwhelming requests.  Also for next year, we will give the option of selecting boosts for the coin that drop in the final bonus chest.  For the small paltry sum of 5 Astral shards, you will have a 10% boost of the final chest loot!

We have recognized how fond all you are with the new Shifter Race.  Immediately, starting with the next Update, we are adding Shifter Hirelings to all current Hireling levels.  These exciting helpers will surely decimate your foes with their slashing claws.  To make room for these new Hirelings, all current Cleric and Favored Soul Hirelings will be retired, except for those available in the DDO Store as Gold-Seal Hirelings. 

Many of you are asking when the new Expansion Fables of the Feywild will be released for DDO points, along with new Race, Shifter.  In truth, we are not at the point of making that announcement yet.  This is a Business, we must always be aware of the bottom line.  While there is the most remote possibility that one more player will become frustrated at the delay of purchasing the Expansion /Race with Points and just pony up the small price with have set for the packages, we must allow those players that opportunity.  Please bear with us, and we promise that they will be released Soon®.

We listen to our Fans!  They are what power us!  We have heard you complain (some bitterly) about the large amount of spelling errors found amongst the many NPC conversations, and have devoted an entire Update to fixing them.  Update 49, The Spell Master's Fix, will surely please all.  We have identified 42 different spelling errors, and our unpaid intern is working diligently to fixing them all.  It may take several Updates to fully root them all out, but we are committed to this process. 

The work at fixing the Lag has finally finished, and based on the infrequency of complaints about Lag on the Forums, we must deem it success.  Please be reminded, that using the term “Lag” will now be considered an Infraction of the Terms of Service, and appropriate actions will be taken, from Bans to more draconian and punitive measures. 

With the summer fast approaching, what sun-stoked vacation will be complete without the addition of Turnip Twaddling.  We are announcing a new event, for mid summer 2021, Update 50:  The Trials of The Turnip Twaddler.  It is too early to say more, but if turnip twaddling is as important to you as it is to us, then you will definitely be excited.
