Druid in animal form

Hey, two quick questions, as I cannot find a definitive answers anywhere:

When playing a druid in bear form:

1. Does using a bastard sword or dwarven axe gives me any benefit (assuming proficiency ofc) compared to using a longsword (and a shield in both cases ofc)? Do I get more striketrough, more die multiplier or anything like that?

2. What kind of improved critical should I take? The one related to the weapon that I will be using?  Or bludgedon, because, you know, I am mauling stuff as a bear?

Take improved crit for the weapon.

If you can roll it you can smoke it.  If you can carve it you can smoke with it.

1. Iirc using a hand and half with the appropriate offhand will get you the stat multiplier bonus. Other benefits include access to the matching T4 LD active attack. The major benefit for sword and board for bear is the fact you can use the HP stance in the tree and not have to use epic defensive fighting, thus allowing you to 'freely' cast. Secondary benefit depends on whether or not certain druid animal effects stack: IE. Dethek Runestone and Aspect of the Wild Hunt.

2. Take the IC matching the weapon you want to use.
