Playeraudit's numbers are pretty good.  All you have to do is log in during prime time and count the number of people of logged in on the "who is on" tab.  Then extrapolate.

EG7 was likely fed baked numbers by Daybreak/SSG.

The numbers for both can be correct.   They are measuring different things.

there is a difference between MAU and subscribers vs concurrent logins.    Player audit has no visibility into account data.    Absent the character/login to account connection you’ve got no way to relate the two numbers.

Agreed. They're both different metrics. There's no reason to suspect that they can't both be correct.

Both numbers are almost certainly accurate as they are (as pointed out) covering totally different things that are not in conflict.

In a game that spawns mules like tribbles, and required dice rolling for daily/weekly freebie, logins will vastly outstrip concurrent players.

As a MMO player, concurrency matters the most.  No one gives a fuck if someone logs to 35 mules looking for their shard of something or other.  They do care if there is no one to play with and they aren't a bridge troll of a human being.

The biggest insight is not that DDO is healthier than LOTRO, because it's not.  It's more monetized on a per player basis, but that's actually a problem because one can't monetize players infinitely.  There's a cap on that.  LOTRO has more upside than DDO, and in business, ability to grow matters.  When growth stops, and from DDO's point of view growth stopped years ago, the only play is to better fuck over your customers if you can't restart it (pro tip: they haven't been able to).

If DDOs number continue to slide and they puke up all the transitory gains from the pandemic (looking 100 that they will) and the slide doesn't arrest, they are going to have to dive further into their customer wallets.

Thus you get points sales and no summer sails event, lol.  Wink

High conversion rates are the primary goal of every b2c online company.  I like how you can spin having the highest conversion rate of any of the products in the portfolio as a negative.   Well done.   Grin

This is bullshit.

It is illegal for a publicly listed company to use false information when they present it to the stock exchanges / shareholders like this.

Those numbers are 100% accurate.

They where not publicly traded before being bought.
How many people have multiple accounts?
I would think the true population is a lower by now at least.
It would be nice if EG7 feels duped and fires someone.

This has already been pointed out. Even if SSG were stupid enough to cook the books and try to give EG7 fake statistics, EG7 was not going to just accept whatever SSG gave them. They would have checked the numbers themselves as well as hired at least one probably two third-party auditors to look over the books before making the purchase.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.
