I tried to play BG3 last year but the combat is so slow I slept off in the middle. Too bad they didn't include RTWP like the original games. I hope some other studio will do a proper d&d game with RTWP.

I feel the same way. I there's a reason I can go back and play the older games like NWN and NWN2 but I can't remotely get into playing BG3 and it's 100% based on this.

I get that the fully turn based feel appeals to some nostalgia glasses and folks that are genuinely new to that style of game, but between the Isometric Camera and the full Turn Based mode I feel like I'm playing a game from 30 years ago even if the graphics are modern and I just don't have that kind of patience anymore.

So far as I can tell the average final fantasy fan things everything is better if its final fantasy. If they released a final fantasy version of dysentery, they'd be lining up for it.

Dude you bought Saltmarsh, twice.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

So how and why is it better?

Raids require skill, everyone has to play their part and pull their weight. Unlike DDO where you can have one guy, scratching his sack looking at gay porn, half the raid is in Discord talking shit cause the raids are so basic there is no need to communicate or coordinate anything. How you do in all raids is uploaded and tracked with a 3rd party program called FFLOGS. It shows world rankings, none of this BS DDO cheese, if people do good DPS, they actually do good DPS. Classes are well balanced, it is not just a button-mashing session like DDO. All classes have unique combos, or openers to maximize every microsecond of combat. The raid and group bosses have insane group mechanics, where the entire raid has to dance in and out. One person fucks up the whole raid is can be screwed. Although I like DDO, the end-game raids are honestly fucken dog shit.

Meh. Add skulls if you want it to be less forgiving. You can't complete a mid-high skull leg raid without coordination and ppl knowing their roles.

And those people need significant numbers of reaper points - don't forget that.

and gear
and..

The hardcore go beyond gear. They make sure all their gear have the appropriate mythic/reaper bonuses. That's next-level, imo.

DDO has an unfortunate and very unhealthy relationship with the "need gear to run high difficulty"/"need to run high difficulty" problem. This is the consequence of making items drop ONLY in end-chests gated by difficulty. It just further shuts out new players.

I cannot even imagine the number of runs it takes to do that kind of thing. That goes beyond playing the game as a second job. I think if your full gear-set is that tricked out you are officially married to the game.

After you get all the past lives and 156+ reaper points, what else are you going to do?

Sure, you could do it again on a second or even third toon, but at some point, you've got to go for perfection, not only with your build, but also with your gear.

Yeah... that tracks. I'm just thinking about how long it would take even IF you could faceroll all content on R10... you might juuuuust catch that last piece right before the new xpac comes out and makes all your gear obsolete.
