Strange Choices in Item Design Episode 2: KT and Longswords

Knights Training is pretty clearly geared towards longswords.

But there are only maybe 4 decent longswords in the game, most of these being raid weapons.

So one wonders: what were they thinking?
  

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

They were thinking...

We made this super awesome new system for crafting super OP raid weapons with like, these great new drops from this cool new raid.
But no one wants to make longswords or Warhammers because THF is crazy since we made strike through. Awesome job on that! And everyone keeps using weapons with expanded crit ranges like khopeshes. But we have increased our roll out of the awesome new keen. Great work on that.
So how can we make the plaggles want to use longsword again?

What about a new feat? Hhmmm that sounds, like, really cool, like...

I think they were thinking that Khopeshes shouldn't be the weapon of choice for almost every non-THF melee.

Should have just adjusted the crit range of all longswords rather than make a feat.  But thats SSG; fat, stupid, and drunk.

Force a rebranding / leave ssg without anything worth anything, so maybe they sell out to someone worth something.

The people at ssg obviously have never even attempted to play p&p.
Nor do they give a shit about lore and story. Or anything else that WotC tries to do.

The extent of basically all quests is "run from a to b while killing shit". Always has been.
Diplomacy? Sure we use diplomacy in like 3 quests, as a purely optional thing that won't matter at all, because since the point of the game is killing shit who the fuck would ever put points in diplo?
Same with all other skills/stats/game systems really.

WotC should have pulled the plug back when:
Theres a billion things to fix, ton of exploits but... wait let's make a win ddo button that does absolutely nothing but push text to the screen saying "you win ddo" that's a great use of our time!
