I tried one of these the other day:

https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Sentient_Jewel_of_the_Timid

Sweet fucking christ it was awful.

I'll be honest, I didn't know what it was when I did the totem trade-in. The voice was so stupid and irritating I fed it to a better sentient gem after it talked one time. I then went to check and realized why.

The fat fuck has to do some actual work for SSG some times in order to get a paycheck.
I'm glad it's more than just abusing forum users or shitting all over YouTube.

The question is, do they have stats on how many people actually slot the idiot's jewel and keep it?
They could probably publish a fatsovanonly build for the guy that still has the jewel and remove all the audio file from everyone else's game I think......

The Jewel of the Timid has been around for at least two years. Where the hell have you been?

Anyway, Jerry was doing some test readings of dialogs which were never intended to be a sentience.

It turned out that the staff liked it so much that they made those test readings into a jewel anyway.

Not paying attention to sentient jewels, obvi.

Oof. Seriously? Why would you ever subject players to such a terrible inside joke?!

Why can't I search for the other ones? When I search "sentient" it just comes up with no results.

Anyway, I thought everyone either A) played without sound or B) used Hopeful because she has by far and away the cutest voice. I don't know why anyone would willingly play with the Cordo jewel lol

You think Hopeful sounds cute? I thought it was creepy as fuck. I'll give her another chance.

My personal favorite is Whelm.

I think it is case sensitive. I searched "Sentient Jewel" with Full Text turned on. It took a moment to display the results though. I got 11 jewels. I don't think the site is updated at the moment.

There's only 11 jewels per wiki:

Yup, ok. Wave is my favorite. I've even ransacked WPM a few more times looking for more of them.

There is a 12th Jewel...the Lizardfolk one from Salt Marsh.

I have no idea what that one sounds like.

Honestly, I didn't even know what sentient jewels were until like 2 months ago when I had the insanely bad idea to play trough some other 36 lives.
I find them extremely annoying for the most part.

I pulled one out of somwhwere I can't be bothered to remeber, and fet it 2 inventory tabs of BTC shit
Offhand you'd think "that's a lot of XP"... nha. If it wasn't for the fact I needed inv. Space it wouldn't have been worth the time.

As far as using it. Unless you max it out and slot it with a kit it seems rather useless.
Will be nice to finish the 36- however many lives it takes to feed it enough XP for it to be nice someday.

The "the joke" on fatsovan. It's only a joke if he didn't get paid at all for it in any kind of way.
But the fact we potentially have to put up with it is in-itself a payment, I'm sure.

Sentient Jewels are brilliant.
They add fluff, grind, power and for a little while some space in your inventory/bank.

The sentient jewels served an extremely valuable purpose: they give us a use for the 900,000 Hallowed Tails you'll pick up whilst farming for a Family Recruit Sigil.

The fact that a leg item is only worth ~300 sentient XP and a fully-maxed gem holds 210,000 tells us SSG knows exactly how bad the their drop rate mechanics is.

Disagree. A 33% chance of a named item dropping at the end of a quest run on Elite difficulty is pretty good.

It sounds like you and the RNG have a "complicated" relationship.

When it takes you 500 chest pulls to get a specific item on R3, you'll understand.

Except for Jack Jibbers' Blade, it hasn't taken me more than 64 pulls to pull anything from a non-raid chest.*

What are you trying to acquire?

*I do use Elixirs of Discovery when I'm trying to pull something specific in the shortest period of time.
